The Main Pond is fishing well at present. Pole and waggler fished pinkie, maggot and caster is accounting for good silver fish bags. Feed little and often and be prepared to shallow up when the fish really start to ‘ave it’. The pegs near the bungalow and bridge and starting to produce better fish to pellet and corn. Balanced tackle is best and a well presented hook bait will get interest from the resident Tench and Bream in between tussles with Carp to 6lb.

The Back Pond is starting to ‘Spring’ into life with Skimmers and Roach falling to worm, caster and maggot. Feed a little corn over the same line and fish corn on the hook and your likely to have your string pulled by one of the Carp that are just starting to become active. Pike sport has just started to tail off slightly but runs can still be had on ledgered deadbaits just popped off the bottom.

Halsham Ponds

Ponds: 2

Pricing: £5.00

Bans: No keepnets. Barbless hooks only.

Additional: Fishing between 7.30am and dusk.

Both ponds are starting to improve with the little sun we have had seeing anglers getting plenty of bites. The Island Pond on warmer days is seeing a lot of Carp between 1lb and 6lb being taken on the inside line on big baits like corn, meat and pellet. On the colder days anglers need to fish that little bit farther out but the same baits are still taking similar sized carp. Feed sparingly for best results. Plenty of bites can be had by anyone wanting to fish maggot and caster for the hordes of silver fish.

The Main Lake is also seeing Carp upto 5lb taken on pole or waggler with corn being the in bait this week.

East Park Lake, Hull

Ponds: 1

Bans: Barbless hooks only. No spinners, plugs or lures

Additional:

This week has seen the double figure Carp that inhabit the lake being caught…. and lost. Those setting their stall out for them are being rewarded with multiple runs per session. Best baits are boilie, pellet and corn over a bed of particles. Anglers fishing maggot, casters and punch are catching Roach from all pegs and the later in the session bigger samples are making an appearance and are up to 1lb. Have a spare rig set up as Tench and Carp have been breaking many a light line of late.

Laveracks Ponds (Wholesea Grange), Holme on Spalding Moor

Ponds: 4

Pricing: £5.00

Bans: Keepnets only allowed in matches. Barbless hooks only, maximum size 12.

Additional: No bait bans.

The New Match Lake is very productive as usual. Any bait fished on the deck over a light feed of the same will get plenty of attention from the Carp, Ide and Roach in the lake. The lake has plenty of features to suit all methods from pole to feeder.

Head for Pond 1 if you want to get into the venues bigger fish, pegs 1 and the newly created log pegs on the far side are fishing particularly well. Best baits are corn and meat, the prior should also tempt a few Tench to feed. If you’re happy to catch small fish all day at your rod tip take along a few maggots and bites are guaranteed from the masses of Gudgeon.  Any spell of warm weather will allow the surface fisherman to plunder the Carp with mixers off the top.

Lindholme  Lakes, S. Yorkshire

Ponds: 8

Pricing: £5.00

Bans: Keepnets only allowed in matches. Barbless hooks only, maximum size 12.

Additional: Feed pellets must be bought on site.

Although the venue is a little further a field. The journey is well worth it and see many of the local match men visit on a weekly basis. The venue has fished well all through winter, especially the Laurels, Willows and Bonsai Lakes.

Bonsai is really starting to fish really well, with long pole or bomb doing the damage. Fish pellet over pellet to see you pole float go under or double and treble maggot on the tip, especially if you choose a peg with an island in front of you. Matches are being won with 100lb+, best pegs are 70 and 43.

Laurels and Willows are still throwing up big bags of F1 Carp and Stockies and don’t be surprised to hook into the bigger specimens on any line. The points are always good for a few bites and any of the bays with the wind blowing into them should see the shoals of Carp follow. The Trout are still being caught down the sides on maggot and plenty of Chub and Roach sport can be had at two rod lengths on smaller baits.

Oasis is still consistent for small carp at the far side of this canal style lake. However the recent strong winds have made presentation difficult.

The fishery will be holding a charity event on Wednesday 21st May called the BigBash in aid of Breast Cancer awareness. 350 pegs are available but most are already booked, so if you want to fish a match and at the same time contribute to a worthy cause visit.

Another of the popular venues for local matchman. The four lakes are all canalised and best results come from fishing down the middle and to the far bank features.

All lakes are stuffed with match size Carp, Tench, Barbel, silver fish and even a Catfish or two. Kevins and Bethanys are the two form lakes at the moment and pellet presented up the ledge on pole or waggler should see lots of bites. Head for pegs 8 or 24 on Kevins if you want to sit on the ‘flyers’.

Lambwath Lake, Aldborough

Telephone: 01482 796627

Ponds: 5

Pricing: £5.00, concessions available

Bans: Check board on arrival

Additional:

The Lambwath lake is seeing double figure nets of Roach being taken on the pole or waggler with maggot or caster best. The carp are still in pegs 8-12 and 16-23 if you fish a bomb with bread or pellet up to the rope. The Tench and odd carp are also within pole distance and going to 5lb.

Plenty of bites can be had on Moat fishing pellet and / or maggot up to the far side reeds. The odd 'Barney' is also starting to be taken from the inside of the corner pegs.

Caravan and Tench are a bite a chuck from smaller fish with maggot and caster being best. Athough a bit early in the season paste has taken over 200lb in pleasure sessions on Tench lake with Carp upto 15lb being landed. On Caraven the best pegs are those nearest Moat pond but be prepared to fish heavy as some real lumps have been taken of late.

Sam Hosticks Fishery, Woodmansey

Contrary to other websites, the owners have asked me to remind anglers that the fishery has no pleasure fishing lakes. If you are wanting to book a match on one of the three lakes please contact Sam or Val on 01482 867125 or 07836 712475

Oak Tree, North and South lakes are designed solely for the pleasure angler, so you will never have a problem getting on because of a match being held on them. Oak Trees stocking is almost gauranteed to give a bite a cast for the angler willing to fish light lines and small baits. Skimmers, Rudd and Chub are all willing to feed in almost any weather. Fish meat or pellet down the edges for good mixed bags of carp. A few are also starting to be taken on popped up bread.

The North lake is responding at present to waggler tactics, either fished shallow or on the drop in conjunction with regular loose feeding of maggot or caster. Roach and Rudd to 2lb together with Perch and Skimmers are most obliging. Carp to 20lb have been taken on standard Carp tactics and even a Catfish of around the same size was caught two weeks ago on double corn tipped with worm.

The South lake is providing excellent roach sport to a number of bait and methods. Just make sure you take enough bait because they are really 'avin it'. Specimen carp are also being caught by fishing bomb or feeder with a big bait to avoid the small roach. Take a few slices of bread just in case it's a warm day as this can be an awesome method come the afternoon.

The lake is fishing really welll at the moment. The roadside pegs are giving pretty consistent sport on the pole line. Maggot or pellet is accounting for some good bags of Bream, Skimmers, Tench and the odd Carp thrown in for good measure. The boards are are the place to head for if you fancy a day on the tip or fishing under you feet. Drop on any peg of the lake and as long as you have taken plenty of maggots you should have a great day plundering the shoals of silver fish. Start at dead depth but be prepared to shallow up to only a few feet if you get the feeding correct.

Pasture House, Barton on Humber

Canal Lake certainly is receiving alot of attention of late. Match weights are already knocking the ton mark and pleasure sessions sometimes doubling this. Make sure you get there early as the early pegs, 1 through 7 are the flyers at the moment. Pole or tip with pellet is the best combination at the moment. The Main lake and Neck are giving consistent sport with mixed bags of Bream, Carp and silvers being taken from any peg on caster and / corn. Set your stall out for the carp on the feeder and a big bait and your likley to see some action from one of the lakes 'Barney Rubbles'. Be prepared because they really hang on and make sure you have your hand on the rod, otherwise it might just end in the drink. The venue has an excellent cafe and tackle shop on site so should you forget your bait, you will be sorted.

The venue is running a teams of four event on Sunday 25th May, £60.00 per team. See the club and match section for further information or ring the number above for queries or to book on.

Rushlyvers Lake, Hedon

Ponds: 1

Pricing: £5.00 per day

Bans: Check on arrival

Additional:

Roach sport is pretty consistent at present, with maggot and caster on any method taking some nice bags upto 15lb. If your lucky enough to find a few of the lakes Tench, Bream and Skimmers you can easily double this with the same tactics. Carp are not really showing from any particular area. If these are your target, best head to the shallows and throw a bomb upto one of the islands in a PVA or stringer. Corn is still the most consistent bait. The deeps are still up and down with the weather but on the right day fish pellet at 11m or on the tip with light feeding and a few better Bream and Tench have been taken.

Risby Park Lakes, Beverley

Telephone: 01482 862049

Ponds: 4

Pricing: £5.00 per day

Bans

Additional:

Despite rumours circulating, the fishery is open and is fishing very well. The folly lake is starting to give match bags of 100lb+ of carp to pegs in the 20s and the same weight to pleasure anglers from just about anywhere. Pellet on the deck is the method on pole or waggler. The huge Ide and Orfe are starting to come to shallow tactics, just take enough bait.

Carp Lake is pretty consistent with plenty of Carp to double figures showing. Pegs 1 and 34 are the best pegs at present but the carp are of a smaller stamp. Any peg which you can put your bait near the island will also see you get bites.

The Tench Lake is producing mixed bags from all pegs bt head for the deeps if the weathe turns cold. Maggot, caster and worm are all being taken by the Carp, Tench, Ide and silvers.

Tansterne Fishery, Tansterne

Telephone: 07743 067781

Ponds: 2

Pricing: £5.00 per day

Bans: Barbless hooks only

Additional:

The island lake is still producing a bite a put in on maggot or worm from the huge shoals of carp in the lake. These are running at about 2 to the pound and have doubled in size from last year. The pegs to head for are 2 and 32 in the corners and 28 or 6 if you want to fish tight to the sunken island. The bigger fish have not yet started to show on top of the shelf but fish down the side with corn and you should connect with Carp upto 15lb.

The doughnut lake is still fishing really well with the Ide and Skimmers which were stocked at the turn of the year really giving good sport to pole or waggler fished maggot or corn. The stockie carp are still getting in on the action and throw in the odd bigger fish to 15lb you really never know what your going to hook next.

If you have not visited the venue yet but fancy plenty of bites get yourself to Tansterne. See Tom the fishery manager and mention that Tosh sent you and he might just give you a cuppa or coffee on the house. Hot sarnies are also available and are delivered to your peg, ask for prices.

Westlands Lakes, Catwick

Telephone: 01964 641192

The only lake showing consistenly at present is the Middle Lake. Pole or ledger tactics with maggot, caster or pellet is seeing bags of 20-30lb being taken. The pegs on the arm are best at present.

The Tench, Little Tench and Canal are still pretty patchy but feed very lightly and fish for bites and a few small Carp and Ide can be had.

The new Island lake is having matches fishing on it, to avoid disappointment please contact the number above to see if it's open to pleasure anglers.
