Phil Brown’s contacts may have come up trumps to the greatest effect yet with the recent loan signing of Fraizer Campbell. The Manchester United youngster has already made his presence felt during his early appearances for the Tigers, and has added another dimension to Brown’s attacking options. His two goals against Barnsley on his televised home debut screamed Premier League class, while his contribution in drawing the foul from Michael Tonge which led to Dean Windass’ penalty equaliser against Sheffield United was no less significant. However, his all-round game has been impressive, and he looks to have a huge future in the game. Far from being just a finisher, he demonstrated great strength for his breathtaking second goal against the Tykes, while his unselfish running has also caught the eye. His link-up play is one area which is perhaps still to fully develop, although there have been signs of this – most notably a superb lay-off for Dean Windass from Boaz Myhill’s booming clearance against Barnsley. Windass’ experience and footballing brain will be an invaluable resource to the youngster in his stay in East Yorkshire, while the prospect of Jay-Jay Okocha returning to provide the bullets for him is enough to make the mouth water. Already a prolific scorer at Premier Reserve League level, Campbell has been on the fringes of the Old Trafford first team – making two substitute appearances this season – and his spell at the KC Stadium seems set to benefit all parties. City get a fine young striker for a few months, Campbell gains experience and United, at the end of it all, will welcome back a player with first-team football under his belt and who has had the chance to pick the brains of Okocha, Windass and others. Only one question remains: where does City's £1million man Caleb Folan fit into all of this? POSTED BY TOMWHITE AT 12:41 PM
