Goole dispatch Rushall
With the wind to their backs, Goole AFC made chance after chance in the opening half hour.
It appeared their efforts would be fruitless until, on 36 minutes, a corner for Goole was taken by Luke Jeffs and with the help of the swirling wind, it looped over the keeper and into the net.
Just four minutes later and again from a corner, the ball fell to Sam Beard and he duly slotted the ball over the line to give Goole AFC a 2-0 lead.
A minute later a Luke Jeffs' long range effort curled into the top corner of the net and the home side were on fire.
The Goole AFC faithful were expecting a very difficult second half facing the wind but defended very well indeed and kept Rushall Olympic's efforts to a minimum and indeed created as many chances of their own as they had in the first half.
The final goal came on 64 minutes, when Ashley Worsfold chased a ball to the right hand corner flag, looked up and saw Gavin Allott in the box and a delightful cross was met by a bullet header into the roof of the net.
This was a terrific team performance and the applause shown by the Goole AFC supporters at the final whistle, only goes to show how far Karl Rose has brought his team, this after losing against Rushall Olympic 5-0 just a fortnight ago.
With further signings imminent, things are looking so much brighter at the VPG.
