O'Brien rescues point for Goole
It was one of those debut-makers, Niall O'Brien, who rescued a point with a late equaliser.
It was a mixed afternoon for the new captain though, as he put through his own goal within the first minute to get the season off to a disastrous start as he headed past Craig Parry from a Tristan Whitman cross.
In fact, Goole looked all at sea in the first half, missing the injured Danny Farthing in the back four and had it not been for Parry and two fine saves from Whitman and Brady, the game could have been over.
Conditions were far from easy with a blustery wind, and it favoured Goole after the break and they came back well and should have equalised through Adam Lee and Leo Fortune-West, before O'Brien atoned for his earlier own goal by volleying home from 10 yards following a long free kick which was only partially cleared.
Half-chances fell to both teams late on, and a marvellous last-ditch tackle from man of the match Luke Jeffs saves his side as Justin Jenkins broke clear for the visitors.
Goole hope to have Farthing fit for tomorrow night's trip to Grantham, kick off 7.45pm.
