Ferriby leave Allison disappointed

Monday, March 08, 2010, 06:05

NORTH Ferriby suffered their second defeat to Kendal in the space of a month as the Cumbrians picked up a 2-0 win from their visit to Church Road.

The visitors took the lead with their first real opportunity on six minutes, when captain Glen Steel was presented with a free header from Carl Osman's corner.

Steel left the field later in the half after falling awkwardly on his ankle.

Kendal nearly made it two later on, Steve Wilson doing well to tip Osman's drive round the post, while Mark Whitehouse's low shot just wide of the post was the hosts' best chance of drawing level.

Ferriby pressed for much of the second period, with David Cooke looking particularly lively, but Kendal keeper David Newnes restricted their clear-cut chances to a minimum.

On 65 minutes Ferriby's Liam Chapman was sent off for kicking out at Kendal sub Lee Mulvaney, who also saw red for retaliating.

The hosts did succeed in beating Newnes when Alex Davidson lobbed the onrushing keeper, but the effort was cleared off the line, and Newnes thwarted their best chance by saving with his legs from Chris Bolder.

Kendal made the points safe in added time when Alex Taylor was found in space on the edge of the box, and the striker's sweetly-struck effort went in off the post.

"I'm obviously frustrated," said Ferriby boss Neil Allison.

"We're underachieving at the moment and all the hard work is in danger of coming to nothing.

"The important thing to remember is we haven't achieved anything yet and we still need to get results."

The Villagers will have the opportunity to get back to winning ways when they travel to Whitby Town on Wednesday night
