History

Hall Road Rangers were formed as a boys club in 1959 and began life by playing on a park pitch in Hull. The new club was successful in local football and quickly rose through the ranks to become an open age Saturday team. Soon the club’s ambitions had outstripped local football and in 1968 Rangers who were now playing at Dene Park, Dunswell, joined Division Two of the Yorkshire League.

The Blues found the transition to senior football a tough one and shipped over 100 goals in their first season. After two years of struggle the club were relegated to the newly formed Division Three. However, Rangers were beginning to adapt and the 1972/73 season saw hall road win the Yorkshire League Division Three title, losing only four matches in the entire campaign.

A year later the Blues lifted the coveted ERCFA Senior Cup for the first time.

The club more than held their own for the next couple of seasons in a higher league, finishing in mid-table but 1975/76 saw them again struggling and they were relegated back to Division Three. That year also saw the Blues enter the FA Vase for the first time though their flirtation with the national scene was brief as they lost 0-2 in the preliminary round away to Whitkirk Wanderers.

Steady improvement followed culminating in hall Road winning the Yorkshire League Division Three title for a second time in 1980. Two seasons of mid-table football followed before the club were assimilated into the newly formed Northern Counties East league in 1982.

The early 90s saw Rangers become a powerful force in Yorkshire non-league football. In 1991 Rangers won the NCEL Division two title and went on to quickly establish themselves as a division one club.

In 1998 Rangers looked like finally breaking through into the top flight of the NCEL for the first time but a final day defeat robbed them of their chance and the club have never been as close again up to present day.
