Church Road

Location:
The ground is located in the south east corner of the picturesque East Yorkshire stockbroker-belt village of North Ferriby, in the shadow of the church spire. Allotments separate the ground from Church Road itself to the west and access is allowed along the narrow Grange Lane. On matchdays this is pedestrian access only. On the northern perimeter of the ground is the local playing fields which are used for cricket and junior football and also boast a well appointed childrens’ playground and a recently opened skatepark. The ground is bordered to the south by the main rail line into Hull and on the east by the Dean Windass Centre (the club’s floodlit, all-weather training facility) beyond which lies open farmland.

Directions:
From the West - Follow M62 Eastbound which then becomes the A63 (signposted Hull). Turn off A63 following signs for B1231 North Ferriby/Swanland crossing over A63. On entering North Ferriby proceed straight on through village passing the Duke of Cumberland public house on the left. At the village cross roads, 50 yards past Duke of Cumberland, turn right into Church Road (Ristorante Medici on the left at the crossroads). The ground is 0.5 mile down Church Road on the left along Grange Lane (50 yards before railway bridge). From the East – Follow A63 (Clive Sullivan Way) Westbound out of Hull, passing under the Humber Bridge. Take the the first exit past the bridge, taking the right hand lane of the slip road. Turn right at the ‘T’ junction and take next left into North Ferriby, with the Hotel Elizabeth on the left. Follow North Ferriby High Road until crossroads (Ristorante Medici on the right at crossroads), turn left and follow instructions as above.

Pub & Grub:
Being a dormitory village of less than 4,000 inhabitants, refreshment outlets in the village are very limited. Low Street Fisheries – Italian owned Fish & Chips and Pizza shop, offers a fine selection of traditional Fish & Chip Shop fare as well as a fine selection of proper Italian pizzas. All food is cooked to order, so expect a short wait for your order, but well worth the wait. Low Street is off to the left approx 0.3 of a mile from the ground along Church Road heading north towards the village crossroads. The Royal British Legion – The club is situated within sight of the Low Street Fisheries but is a members only club which is affiliated within the Legion network. Apart from the obvious delights of their cellar, the Legion offer a selection of sandwiches as refreshment. Duke of Cumberland – A large public house on the High Road which offers a variety of traditional pub dishes between 12 & 2 and again from 4.30 – 8.30pm. Good selection of beers and food but prices can be a bit on the heavy side, especially for drinks. Ristorante Medici – First class restaurant offering a wide selection of international cuisine, one of the better restaurants in the Hull area which is reflected in both the price and difficulty in booking a table. Offers a reduced price family menu between 5 & 7.30pm. Very popular with the glitterati but access only via prior booking. Not open at lunch times. The Chuck Wagon, North Ferriby United – The club’s own renowned snack bar which offers a broad selection of traditional ‘football grub’ on matchdays. Very reasonably priced and offers substantial portions. Is renowned throughout the UniBond League for it’s now famous Pie ‘n’ Peas. North Ferriby United Clubhouse – No food on offer other than crisps, peanuts and chocolate bars but a decent choice of beers at sensible prices. Tetleys and Boddingtons bitters plus Carling, Carling Extra Cold and Kronenbourg 1664 Premier Cold lagers form a decent line-up.
