I don't care what it takes, the FA have to get Jose Mourinho in as the new England manager after sacking Steve McClaren.
While the former City player was never right for the job, and was clearly never the number one choice, Mourinho has everything we need to finally retsore some pride in English football.
Luiz Felipe Scolari would be a good shout, and if Mourinho doesn't want it, I'd take Big Phil or Martin O'Neill tomorrow.
But for me, the Special One has to the Only One for England.

And what about Hutch Maiava? Hull FC have sacked him and brought in Peter Cusack.
And then there's the little matter of the Humber derby on the City horizon.

Plenty to talk about, but I'm still ranting and raving about that inept performance last night. Feel free to vent your spleen...

Never mind sacking the manager, sack the overpaid and overated *******s who wore the white shirts last night. Until beckham came onto the field they looked completly clueless and even second half they werent too bright.

Maiava out and Cusack in is a good move for Hull, had a feeling we might not see my namesake in a Hull shirt again

For me, I'd go for Martin O'Neill.
He gets the best out of average players and I think he will be able to get Gerrard, Lampard and co to play together as a team.

For God say he got the best out of Stan Collymore!!!

What has he achieved? He managed to get a Scottish club to the UEFA Cup final which is unheard of for a Scottish club.

And he has more charisma in his little finger than McClaren has in total.

Mourinho wouldn't be a bad choice either, though!

What was McClaren thinking throwing Scott Carson into the deep end like that?

I'd have gone for Robinson who I admit has made mistakes before - every keeper has. But Robinson has recovered after those mistakes in those games. Carson was like a rabbit caught in the headlights after his howler because it was his competitive debut!!!

Hutchie, for once we agree!!!!!! Believe it or not, I thought Sven did a good job for England. The people who have consistently let England down are the players.

Apparently we have a host of world class players in Gerrard, Lampard, Rooney etc. Sadly, none of them seem capable of proving it.

Whether England played 4-5-1, 4-3-3, or 5-5-0 last night, that team should still have been capable of a result.

Throwing it away once and going 2-0 down was a disaster. Scraping it back to 2-2 and then to collapse again, was tantamount to treason. No passion and no pride.

Nationality shouldn't matter - and let's face it there isn't an English manager capable of the job.

Capello would be interested. O'Neill would do a fine job.
But Mourinho is the one to help that overpaid bunch of footballers realise their potential. Bringing him in though, would be a very brave move by a Football Association hardly known for their ability to go for a character (Remember Brian Clough?)

think Alan Shearer will be part of the setup as well, maybe not the manager. Got the respect of all the prima donnas and will bring a bit of passion to the shirt

Ive lost touch of footy over the last few years but Rooney always seems to be a psiionate player and chases his socks off.

Lampard & Gerrard in the centre will never work for me, play either one with a defensive midfielder(cant even pick a name off top of my head)

Wright Phillips is a warm weather player and Cole is very similar, last night wasnt the night for flair players

Who the hell is L'escargot first time ive ever seen him play

Cant put too much blame on the keeper, he had no protection. As soon as id seen the conditions i said to our lass that they should be pinging shots from 30 yards to bounce on the 6 yard box and bugger me, thats what they did , were as all first half we were clueless

Whoa there lads. We don't want ex-players in just because they can rile people up. We want a proven manager with tactical nouse who is PROVEN at getting the best out of players and winning things.

Super Alan Shearer is best off where he is, in the BBC Studio.

Jose Mou-rin-ho, Jose Mou-rin-ho, Jose Mou-rin-ho

On the Gerrard/Lampard debate, you wouldn't play two goalkeepers would you? Nuff said.

Pearce, Shearer, Terry Butcher, Tony Adams, all heart on there sleeve players

Our obsession with foreign managers and foreign players is becoming the downfall of our national game

Maybe we should try some flag of convenience players like GB did in rugby with Fassa-Baloo

A rugby league fan advocating the desirability of English coaches is somewhat amusing.

As for Pearce, few people were more patriotic and passionate about their country than Keegan and he was hardly successful.

it wouldnt be that bad an idea

Simple answer is we always pick the supposed ' best ' players rather than the best TEAM

Ex players sometimes works you know!

Bilic - croatia
Klinnsman - germany
Van Basten - Holland

How about a Mourinho/Shearer partnership then? All the tactical nouse and pride in the shirt working together.

Great players dfon't make great managers.

Kevin Keegan = not up to it
Bryan Robson = never done it
Stuart Pearce = too early to tell
Tony Adams = hardly set Wycombe alight
Terry Butcher = is he still in the back of beyond in Australia

Just get the best man for the job, whether he's black, white, blue, tall, short, English or from Nepal. Just get the best man, and don't let pride or a fear of a character get in the way.

Ferguson? Pah! Given that David Gill (MUFC chief exec) is on the FA board, I can't see it happening.

My biggest fear, is that they won't have the guts to bring in a "no-man" rather than the "yes-man" they normaly go for.

Alan Mullery made a great point on Sky this morning thouhg, and I remember having a chat with Trevor Brooking about this before, but technuically we're not good enough in this country.

That said, the 11 players who started that game last night should still have got a result. Where was the English blood and thunder spirit. Where was the closing down, the midfielders going through people and rattling the opposition to get England abck in the bloody game.

We needed a Bryan Robson, a Keano, damn it a bloody leader who would rant and rave at his team-mates and get the adrenalin pumping!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
