Games Without Refs| Author | Message |

Not really the league or ERCFA's fault as I know there just aren't enough refs to go round but I'm always feeling pretty negative when we don't have a proper match official, even a poor referee gives me more confidence than an opposition manager/coach/official taking charge. In pre season we had one guy who was the manager of the opposition, he awarded his side a penalty as we'd had one in the first half and said he needed to even it out. He also played around 15 minutes injury time just so his side could get a goal. Yesterday the opposition coach who refereed was probably better than some of the match officials we've had this season but never sent off one of his players for diving to save a shot on the line with his hand, he did give the penalty though and did say 'I should send you off but I won't'. Could almost live with that one but worst thing was that he blew for full time with 8 minutes still remaining. My side were one down (having been 4-1 down early on in the second half, we'd made a couple of changes and had quickly pulled two back to make it 4-3). I really felt we would have equalised in those final minutes and 8 is certainly enough to do so, in fact I wouldn't have been surprised had we scored twice as we scored three times in the last 5 minutes of our first game of the season. Of course we may still have lost, may have even conceded more but we'll never know due to the dodgy and biased decision to blow up before the end. Saints game on the pitch opposite us kicked off their second half at the exact same time and they were still playing a good 10 minutes after we finished. What's the answer to this? If you have to referee a match for your side can you not be honest and fair as you can't rely on the opposition to be the same? I'd hate to think that's the case. |

I reffed one of our recent games and i failed to give a handball ( nr the halfway line i might add ) and i was all the cheats because i never gave it. I must go down in history as the worst cheat on record cos we lost 2-5 !! , i give it as i see it , its the only way whether your right or wrong , take the offsides i always keep up with play not like some who stand halfway line all game, so i say if i am not 100% certain of is he off or on the advantage is with the attacking side as it should be whether its for my team or against . Offside is the one that causes most problems when you have a stand in referee i think but if in doubt you cant give it so play on . |

There is some honest managers/coaches/players about you know. Its the teams that still play banned / unregistered players that bothers me , its still happening all the time, red book system or no red book system. |

If anyone on a sunday cannot produce a red book under the rules they cannot play in that match, it doesnt matter if he has played for you for 20yrs no red book no play , its a simple as that. I know at least one player in div 5 myton who is under suspension and he has played in all their games this season, that i know for a fact . |

The definate penalty shouts where that bad it almost caused people to start exchanging blows! Dont let their manager ref a match. Play/Ref fair or dont do it at all! |

We all know its a tough job even for the qualified referees out there but no wonder there is confrontation during games with players over some poor decisions made every week , the thing is how do we recruit more refs and what can be done to prevent stand in officials from blatantly not giving decisions ? |

Then despite asking me to time the match and constantly asking me how long to go and asking me to stop the clock when people went down he blew up 8 minutes early with my team battering his and looking like scoring an equaliser, on the order of his manager apparantly (he was the coach). Blatant cheating and it won't be forgotten in a hurry. Two good ones were Tariq who runs Parkwood and Andy who runs The Pumas. Played them both in pre season and they both reffed, were far harsher on their own side than us but generally reffed it very well. |

My concearns have been made known to the ERCFA and they have confirmed that this player in question is currently suspended so him and his club will be dealt with accordingly. I suggest you do the same with the player you know for the goodness of the honest clubs that exist in sunday league football. |

After that they beat our weakend side 4-3 twice in two other games when they had all the bods back. It really depends on how organised they are to be honest, if they've got most guys available then they'll give you a good game, if not then it could be any kind of craziness. |
