Bearing in mind that the team are in the Elite league ie the top league for Ice Hockey in the UK surely the Mail must reconsider their position and produce a pre season supplement along the same lines as Hull City Hull FC and Hull KR. If the paper can produce an eight to ten page Hot shots sports pullout each week for junior sport surely it can do a pre season spread for the Rays and other teams in the Elite league ,players to watch etc Also a regular League table and other match results isn't too match to ask for in the regular season? |

To give something a fighting chance to develop surely you must give it the same respect as any other competetive sport because at the end of the day it is a worldwide played SPORT !!!!!!! |

If you do, I think you will find they are more than happy. Stingrays games are nearly always handed a full-page preview and a more-than decent sized report following the match-action. Having seen our rivals' coverage, I can honestly say ours is probably the best ice hockey coverage in any regional newspaper. Our ice hockey reporter Cathy Wigham dedicates countless hours to covering her sport and is always comprehensive and fair in her writing. I admit the team do not get as much coverage as the two rugby league clubs or Hull City, but that is because they do not pull in the viewing figures which these sides do. Our coverage is more than appropriate for the sport's popularity and we will not increase it any further because we feel it is already more than adequate. I know this sounds like a rant, but it is not. It is merely a move to state why we do things like we do to keep you informed of how we come to make editorial decisions. |
