CAVE Castle Golf Club offers a parkland and meadowland 18-hole golf course surrounded by 150 acres of countryside.

Open to members and non-members, the course par of 72 is attainable despite three feature holes that often cause trouble for golfers and their scorecards.

Hole 10, at 463 yards, is the longest par four on the course and has a green that is on an elevated plateau from the tees.

A long par five uphill, hole 13, emphasises the importance of a straight drive through the out of bounds areas either side of the fairway.

Finishing alongside the clubhouse, hole 18 inhibits golfers with a sharp right turn midway down the fairway that blocks sight of the bunkers on the approach to the green – requiring an important tee-shot as the green runs toward the bordering lake.

Improvements are continuously being made to the course, which is maintained by the dedicated green staff. new tees have been built on the fifth and 11th holes, adding to a new embankment constructed on the back of the 18th hole green.

Work has also been planned to build new tees at the third and ninth holes in the near future.

The course is set in the grounds of Cave Castle Hotel and Country Club, situated at the foot of Yorkshire Wolds, which provides an ideal venue for golf breaks.

Club Captain’s Day, the Ladies’ Open pairs and a Breast Cancer event will be held in June, with Lady Captain’s Day and the Junior and ladies’ Open set for July. A Mixed Open will be in August.

For golfers needing some help with their swing, or for a chance to improve their putting, the club’s own golf professional is available to members and non-members for hour-long lessons, and junior coaching is also on offer for the club’s younger guests every Saturday morning.

Small and large parties, as well as golf societies are welcome to use the facilities on offer, including a golf clinic with the professional.

Catering can be provided in the licensed golf bar, which is available for snacks and drinks to members and non-members.
