Biography: Handicap at 13 years of age (1), scratch at (15). Turned pro at 16, youngest in country to quality as full member of PGA at age of 19. Won Norfolk Championship Seaview Bowl at Great Yarmouth and Caister. Norfolk PGA County Captain at 26, youngest to be captain. Won Springhead Park Pro-Am five under par in 2004.

Top tip: The laying open of the club face is crucial in the sequence of playing a greenside bunker shot. This is done before taking the grip and is best carried out outside the bunker, as you cannot ground the club inside the hazard (rule 13-4). The feet, hips and shoulders alignment should be left off target. Ball position is forward with the clubhead held above the sand. Both knees should be pushing the bodyweight forward towards the target. Work the feet into the sand for a firm stance. The swing is a ‘steep out to in’ action with an early wrist cock. Make sure you hold the club face open as you swing down and through bringing the knuckles of the left hand towards the sky. Aim to hit the sand one to two inches behind the ball depending on how dry-wet the sand is. Two-inch behind if the sand is dry, one-inch behind if the sand is wet. Remember the sand will slow the clubhead down so accelerate and follow through.
