HULL KR: Clinton set to sign

Monday, November 30, 2009, 06:25

HULL KR look set to announce the signing of Joel Clinton this week – subject to the former Australian Test star receiving a work permit.

Clinton, 27, has sought his release from current club Brisbane Broncos in order to join Hull KR on a two-year deal.

Broncos, having secured Melbourne's prop Scott Anderson for 2010, were willing to grant the former Penrith forward a release from the final year of his contract.

It comes after the Mail revealed that Clinton was set to sign for the Robins last Tuesday.

Rovers' coach Justin Morgan told the Mail he was an admirer of the prop, and that given KR's links to Clinton's agent, David Riolo, that they were well placed to secure his services.

Rovers are believed to have beaten off competition from at least two other Super League clubs to land Clinton.
