HULL KR: Welham pledges to make amends (video)
Welham expects the current squad to come back even hungrier after their well-earned time off.
A fourth-place finish is an excellent achievement for Welham and Rovers in just their third season in the top flight.
But after failing to win a play-off game, the home-grown youngster knows they must do better in 2010.
He told the Mail: "We'll bounce back from the disappointment of losing to Wigan in the play-offs.
"We want to carry on from this year and hopefully we can go two steps forward and get to Old Trafford.
"We'll come back for pre-season in a few weeks hungry to put things right next season."
Before that, Welham and his team-mates will enjoy a well-earned rest.
The centre is looking forward to his break more than others after playing all 32 games for the first-team this season.
The 22-year-old played consistently well throughout the campaign and he'll have to work just as hard when pre-season starts next month.
He said: "I'm feeling sore at the minute, but it won't be too long before we are back in for training, especially the younger players who'll be in sooner than the others.
"We'll be trying to put some weight on and I reckon I'll feel it then.
"I'm definitely looking forward to the break ahead.
"I'll be able to get a few lie-ins for a change and not have to get up early for training.
"It hasn't really sunk in yet that I've played in the play-offs in my first full season.
"Hopefully, I can say the same next season and hopefully I can also say I have played in a Grand Final."
