Sewell wins in late on

KINGSTON Rivermen battled to a last-minute 4-3 victory over top-of-the-table Nottingham under-12s at the Hull Arena.

The visitors expected an easy victory after hammering a short-handed Kingston 17-1 at their rink in September, but got a rude awakening when Kingston fired in three goals early in the first period.

Nottingham fought back hard over the next 30 minutes of play and managed to tie the score at 3-3 in the dying minutes of the final period.

The Kingston defence led by Tom Stubley and player of the match Susanna Pearson kept Kingston in contention, and with seconds left on the clock, Jack Sewell was put through on goal to snatch Kingston a hard fought victory.

Sewell ended with two goals and there were also goals for Kate Marsden and Braden Jennings, while assists came from Cain Taylor (2) and Stubley.

Kingston had 26 shots to Nottingham's 21 in the EIHA League encounter.
