HULL CITY: Swan: Brown departure is massive shock

Monday, March 15, 2010, 12:06

FORMER Hull City player and Mail columnist Peter Swan said the news of Phil Brown's departure came as a 'massive shock' to him.

Swan didn't see this coming especially after the Tigers came so close to holding Arsenal to a 1-1 draw with only 10 men.

Nicklas Bendtner scored an injury time winner to break Hull City hearts at the KC Stadium on Saturday, when Swan saw the spirit within the City camp.

"This is a massive shock, more so because of the timing," said Swan.

"Maybe more has gone on behind the scenes than we know.

"Dropping Tom Cairney because of his agent might have been an issue.

"Would Phil Brown have done that if it was Jimmy Bullard's agent? I don't think so.

"They came very close to getting a point against Arsenal with only 10 men and you could see all the players were trying and pulling in the right direction.

"But they are in the bottom three and two wins away from getting out of that."
