HULL CITY: Campbell should have gone, says Brown

HULL CITY boss Phil Brown believed Arsenal should have been reduced to 10 men as they defeated the Tigers with a last-gasp winner from Nicklas Bendtner.

The high-flying Gunners took the lead early on through Andrey Arshavin but Hull City levelled from Jimmy Bullard from the penalty spot.

And in the build up to the spot-kick, Jan Vennegoor of Hesselink was impeded by Gunners' defender Sol Campbell, who was the last man between the striker and the goalkeeper, Manuel Almunia.

Brown said: "I talked about pivotal moments beforehand and when it arrived, it was in favour of Arsenal.

"Sol Campbell should have been red-carded as he denied a goalscoring opportunity."

George Boateng received his marching orders for City on the stroke of half-time after two yellow cards and City themselves played with 10 men throughout the second half.

Brown added: "I was very proud of my team's performance.

"If we bring that pride and performance to the table over nine games we will have no problems. But it's up to us to respond to nine cup finals."

Kamil Zayatte was stretchered off after a heavy challenge from Campbell, and Brown said: "His injury will be assessed in the next 48 hours.

"But Mouyokolo and Cooper coped well and maybe we'll be looking at that for the next eight or nine games."
