A new arrival for £1million from Middlesbrough in July 2008, Boateng brought a wealth of top-flight experience to the City squad. A move to the KC Stadium brought  him a new challenge late in his career but it was one he stood up to with his experience and know-how in the centre invaluable to the Tigers. At times late on in the season he struggled as he was asked to cover a lot of ground in a midfield often swamped by high-quality opponents. International honours have come with Holland and the holding midfielder boasts over 250 appearances and 10 decades in the Premier League.
