HULL FC: Yeaman hopeful of Christmas return

Friday, August 28, 2009, 06:36

HULL FC centre Kirk Yeaman has spoken of his relief after being told he will not miss all of pre-season as originally feared.

Yeaman will undergo an operation next Thursday to repair a hip injury which saw the centre tear the tendons off the bone.

A second visit to a specialist this week has convinced the club to send the 25-year-old for surgery, however the international player is now expected back in full training in four months time.

"I'm expecting to be back in full training with all the boys as soon as we come back after Christmas, which is a relief," Yeaman told the Mail.

"When it first happened I was told I could miss six months which would have meant me missing the start of the season, so I'm relieved.

"I'll have to take it steady for a while, but I plan on being back in action to do some work in pre-season and then I'll step it up toward Christmas."

Following his operation in Bradford, Yeaman will be on crutches for two weeks and then will be able to begin his rehab some two to three weeks later.

"I can't do any upper body work for a while but I'll be out on the bike as soon as the physio lets me," added Yeaman.

"What is important from my point of view is I should be able for selection for the friendly games which I don't want to miss."
